In 2022 I joined West Indy Speed and West Indy Barbell after failing my regional soccer referee fitness test. Soon after, I had hip and hamstring surgeries in 2023, which kept me rehabbing into early 2024. I gained weight and felt uncomfortable in my body, so I knew I needed to focus on my nutrition and focus on my running and strength.
Mid-2024, I began working with Kaitlyn at Beyond the Plate Nutrition. She checked in with me daily, encouraged me without judgment, and taught me how to fuel my body. At West Indy, Andrew pushed me to refine my running form and get faster, while Renee gave me confidence in the weight room and supported my progress with strength training.
By the end of 2024, I lost 40 lbs, built muscle, and improved my speed and endurance enough to pass both the regional and national referee fitness tests in June of 2025 Thanks to Kaitlyn, Andrew, and Renee, I now feel and look like an athlete on the field. Now, I’m focused on my next goal: upgrading to a National Assistant Referee for 2026.
